Smart Stamp® Wins Alcatel-Lucent's Touchatag Mobile Developer Challenge
October 8, 2009—Vienna, Austria—Smart Stamp was named the "Most Innovative Application" in an international contest sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent. The Smart Stamp technology demonstrated NFC (near-field communication) applications in Vienna at Mobilkom A1 Innovation Days using the Touchatag Service from Alcatel-Lucent.
Touchatag is an Alcatel-Lucent venture that enables service providers and their enterprise customers to leverage ubiquitous identity — in contactless cards and NFC mobile devices — for eValue services such as payment, fidelity and personalized information. The Smart Stamp application was combined with the Touchatag service and a Microsoft® Tag linked by RFID/NFC transponder code printed onto a PhotoStamp® from Stamps.com™ to add permission-based links to multimedia-based Internet content delivered over the Touchatag service.
According to Elliot Klein, the Smart Stamp service's Inventor and Founder, "This honor represents Smart Stamp technology's first international recognition showcasing the valuable benefits in combining mobile Internet with postal mail to help bridge the gap between physical and digital communications."
